A lot of what I’m about to say should go without saying, but out of respect for my audience and the artist who’s work I critic I am going to formalize my positions on a few topics.
1) REVIEW COPYS DO NOT GARANTEE GOOD PRESS.
This really should not need to be said, but there it is. Getting a review copy of a game only grantees that I will look at a game with the intention of reviewing it. There may be cases where I am unable to review a game I was given a code for, but I will not except a code for a game I have no intention of reviewing.
2) REVIEWS ARE MY OPINIONS, AND MY OPINIONS ONLY
At the time of this writing I have made a friend who is acting as Editor and Mentor. Neither they, developers, publishers or other parties will effect my outlook on a game. My friend is helping me become a better writer, but all writing is my own. However, as is the nature of all discussion, is any conversation I have leads to a new understanding of a game, my writing will reflect that and I will credit that in the review.
3) I WILL RESPECT EMBARGOS AND CERTAIN DEVELOPER REQUESTS
The Embargo thing should be pretty self-explanatory. If I am given a review code and am asked not to post my review before a certain time and date, I will not post my review before that time and date. If the embargo lifts after the game is released, that will be mentioned in the review.
As for the developer requests, that does not mean I will ignore flaws. However, if a game I am reviewing is heavily story based and I am asked not to give spoilers or show game play footage beyond a certain point, that I will agree too.
